John Manrique, the "alleged" author, is a self-proclaimed social satirist whose work has amused himself and burdened unfortunate family members and friends for years. His first novel, "Ocean Raton," sold well over ten copies and was on top of the New York Times bestseller list (technically: Manrique took a copy of the list and physically placed his book "on top" of it). A graduate of Stetson University in DeLand, the Sunshine State has been his permanent residence since 1994. "For The People" is his second novel.

Prone to delusion, he appropriately lives in South Florida with his extremely understanding, wonderful wife and their two surprisingly well-adjusted children (obviously they get that from their mother).  Humans are outnumbered by dogs in the Manrique household, the current canine contingency numbering at five with Maggie, Farley, Petunia, Chiquita and Paloma.  There's also Piper the attack cockatiel, but best not ruffle those feathers.

Aside from writing and la familia, Manrique's interest include running, spin cycling, the Boston Red Sox, tennis, and discovering new foods he can hot sauce. His professional bumper sticker: "See no evil. Hear no evil. Speak no evil. Write it."
